I have to admit, somehow, I have a rather large g9 library. And I cant say I use it. This includes morph packages to fix joints, L.I.E. make up, etc.
I did a recent piece(shown on renderhub) using g9. Compared to my g8's...the figure is lacking.
One, the feet are a nightmare. The hands are abit better, but not by much.
I keep returning to g8 and g3.
I noted above the artists that provide hair and clothing for both figures in one package, for value for money.
But the fact remains...I have to agree on the fact g9 does not deliver.
Even with joint fixing morphs, expression morphs, body morphs, etc.
To add to the issue, most of their g9 releases dont have many options "out of the box".
I get a Figure/character for g8 and normally, the eye and make up is pretty decent.
I have a couple g9 Characters that are a base skin and nothing else. Forcing you to then go and purchase even more.
As it was said above, by @Nevertrumper "but foremost I blame the user base, by just eating willingly what they got served,"
Most accurate statement there is.

After posting on reddit, I received a note that the post had been deleted because of low karma. That's when I posted here.May I ask, by chance, did you have a morph for a shoe/boot by chance used on it?
Different people read / use different forums, BTW.
"Oh dear, that looks painful :(Wild assumption: morphs going rogue on you? Of course this doesn't help you one bit. Did you do anything here? "it doesn't work" is a question no one can answer without more info.
But ... ugh... that looks nasty. So, let's try to find a solution before anyone gets really hurt here! 👀
OP => Select a foot. Right click on the scene tab (pane entry?) and use: "Select => "Select children".
Step one completed.
Right click on the "Parameters" tab, use: "Zero => Zero selected items".
(pre-re-reading: I mean hover your mouse over the first option, see the menu show up, then use the option).
Save the scene (or sub-scene).. what happens?"
Nothing. It doesn't change the curling. I have tried zero pose - doesn't work. If I zero figure, it restores to the base Genesis 3 Female, but that's no different than just starting with a new Genesis 3 female figure.

Thread: DS Content Creators: Why not G8, as well? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
There are a few artists that make "bang for your bucks" assets. One here on rendo that I LOVE, is romarovprivate. I can not express how good their stuff is. They make items that can be used on g8. g8.1 and g9 all in one package.First off, many thanks to the content creators who still support G8. But, I am curious as to why many content creators (other than DAZ) create G9-only content and do not include direct support for G8 on these items.
Some background: I began using DS some 15 years ago with DS 4.0 and G1. One of the most compelling reasons for selecting DS was G1 and the concept of a non-binary character that could be morphed into a large range of end characters (so I like this aspect of G9). I was not happy with rollout of G2 and back to binary character bases (not to mention all of the other issues involved). However, after some considerable time, I decided to adapt my workflow and character base to G2 because there were some useful upgrades to the base. This was a highly time-consuming and expensive endeavor. Due primarily to Iray content, I endeavored to repeat the conversion process with G3. However, this I commenced toward the end of the G3 period and I did not get far (fortunately) with G3 when G8 arrived. A year or so after the G8 rollout, I decided to move everything over to that character base. This included morphs, poses, and UVs. There was a single compelling reason for doing this conversion: dForce. So, I ended up purchasing a lot of G8 content: characters, wearables, poses, etc.
When DAZ introduces a new character base, they like to crow about it's compatibility with content created for the previous character base. But it's not the content (for the most part) that becomes obsolete when a new character base is introduced, rather, it is the previous character bases themselves that become obsolete and the associated morphs, UVs, and poses. Yes, I own tons of conversion tools (pains me every time I purchase one). It's very expensive but, for me, even worse, is the absurd amount of time (when one adds it all up) required for conversion.
I do occasionally purchase G9-ony wearable content, but it is always with reluctance because I know there is going to be unwelcome conversion work and the resultant fit may be spotty (especially long gowns, and, forget it, I will never try to convert heeled footwear, not worth the effort). Of course, I never purchase G9-only poses, morphs, UVs or smart-props.
At this point, I can not envision a time when I would even consider repeating the conversion process for G9 or even include G9 characters in my workflow. It's a cost/benefit thing. In my estimation, the benefit does not outweigh the cost (time and money). I have enough G1-G8 characters and if I need an additional character, I would rather search through the G8 catalog in order to find what I need. I don't know for a fact, but given the fair amount of G8-supported content still sold, I suspect there are many others in a similar situation. Also, many others who own and utilize a substantial G8 character collection in addition to G9. I am not a wearable content creator, so I can only speculate on the amount of effort required to support G8 in addition to G9. But I believe it is going to be a lot more effective for the original content creator to support G8 directly, vs. the end-user doing it via clones.
Speculation, of course, but I suspect DAZ believes that G9-only content will help move end-users toward adoption of the G9 character base. However, I suggest that it is wishful to believe that G9-only content will motivate end-users to adapt the G9 character base into a workflow which is heavily invested in pre-G9 characters.
So, why not G8? In addition to content creators, I am curious what other end-users think on this subject.

Thread: 3 Tips & Tricks for Daz Studio which are hopefully useful for some of you. | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I LOVE THIS!First: thanks you guys for your kind words! I'll be sure to keep those suggestions in mind and check out that other forum too. We'll see what I can do and/or come up with. Even so... I did promise a top 10 initially. Still no promises but...
PART II => 3 more tips!
#4 => Never underestimate the Shader Mixer pane!
True story: I'm a vivid Redditor and I also enjoy the (unofficial!) Daz3d subreddit, it's generally speaking a really fun and relaxed place. Except for those moments when it isn't of course (but that's not something only happening in this one channel; it's a sporadic "Reddit community flaw"). People were talking about shaders and Iray presets when I commented on the availability of the Shader Mixer pane shown above, which was quickly met with downvotes as well as comments that I was basically being stupid to even mention this because (I quote): "You can only use that for RSL!", quickly followed by more comments backing up this display of stupidity stating things as: "You can easily see for yourself: just use the File menu to open one of those .duf files, cannot be done!".
I just shrugged behind my screen, unsubbed from the post and moved on. Arguing ignorance is a waste of time (this happened several years ago btw, and I can't help but grin whenever I think back).
So here we're back with Sukai 8, now wearing a pretty cool catsuit. On the left side of my screen you'll notice the Surfaces pane telling us clearly on top that the so called "Iray Uber (MDL)" shader is being used (see my green highlight?).
Now, as most of us hopefully know the Surfaces pane itself provides a lot of customization options. You can tweak just about anything in here.
But what if... What if you want to change the very nature of the shader you're working with? You know: to apply some very specific customizations yourself. From adding some birthmarks to a skin to... I dunno... make things look a bit "off" (sunburn anyone?).
For that... we can use the Shader Mixer pane. Check the Windows menu: "Windows => Panes => Shader Mixer". Now, sure: by default you'll be met with the "2 brick" Daz3d shader which defines the basic material for RSL. And yes: if you try to load a saved preset then only .dbm files are supported.
So instead: Select the surface / figure which you want to edit, and pay attention to the shader name shown in the Surfaces pane. Open the Shader Mixer and then use: File => Import from scene. Next... well, just edit to your hearts desire. Don't be fooled by the (limited) previews. Instead: be sure to save your work and apply where needed.
Now, an important disclaimer is in effect here: please be advised that you're probably (much) better off sticking with the Surfaces pane to apply / "mix" and customize different shaders by using all of the provided controls. Editing the very bricks and their relationship(s) themselves is not easy!
And yet... once again it's one of those (seriously) advanced features that not too many people seem to use (or be aware of?) and ... still available fully free of charge?
You can use the Shader Mixer to create (or customize) shaders for RSL / 3Delight, Filament and (as shown above): Iray (MDL).
#5 => Consider using multiple Daz3d & Poser format libraries
(in case you're wondering about the blurring above: one mention of "another marketplace" is more than enough)
If you're using market places other than Daz3d then you should do yourself a favor and add at least one more Daz library to your setup. When I first downloaded an archive (I believe that was from ShareCG) then I dumped all of that in my "My Daz Library", and sure: that worked. But ... why would you include "static" contents (which you can always download again) next to your own projects and presets which you'll want to back up at times? All this does is increase the size of your backups, and for what?
Now, then you may be tempted to just add all this to your official Daz3d library, and why not? Well... maybe this won't happen often: but what if you want to remove something at a later time? You can easily uninstall Daz packages, but as soon as you want to remove an archive... you'll have to do some digging. And having to dig through, say, 50 subfolders is a lot more tricky than 12 or 20.
Trust me: it's a lot easier than you may think. Press F2 to enter your settings, then open the 'Content' pane. Click on the bottom: "Content Directory Manager".
Here's the "secret": a Daz (or Poser) -formatted library is merely a folder on your harddrive which follows a specific standard. You can recognize "Daz contents" by specific sub-folders such as "Data", "Props" or "People" and even Runtime (though that's more related to Poser). Adding an extra library can be done by right clicking on one of these headers, and then selecting the "Add base directory" option. Point it to an (empty?) folder in which you plan to extract your content archives and you're done.
Once again: there really is no "right" or "wrong here", seriously. Even so, it's my experience that keeping some contents a little separated can help out in the longer run.
#6 => (re)organizing your morphs can be useful at times...
So... I have quite a few figures in my library and because of that also have quite a ton of different morphs, especially for figures such as G8F and G8M. Most of these morphs are located in pretty common locations that are easy to find again. But some morphs end up in the weirdest of locations where I'd like to point out "Hidden" as a somewhat unfair example (still an example ;)).
Fortunately for us we can do something about it ourselves. If you want to 'move' a Morph to a different location then all you need to do is click on the cogwheel icon (highlighted above on the right side), and then select: "Parameter Settings". This will open a new window (shown on the left) and from here on out it couldn't be easier: click on the "drop down" button behind the "Path" entry and just select a new location. Once you're done click "Accept" at the bottom and you're all set. Note that you can also use this method to define new location if you want to.
And don't worry: this is all virtual (meta)data so no actual files will get moved or something like that. So no worries about suddenly "breaking" any of these settings; though you should of course always be careful when making changes like these.
End of Part II
Well, at least we're now at 6 tips and tricks which is at least more than half way of 10, so now I don't have to feel guilty ;)
Thanks again for reading, thanks for your comments above and I'll be sure to check out the freebie forum!

In reference to the “customer service” issue.So.... IMO this is a very interesting thread, lots of different takes on things, comments which can be picked up as official (or close enough), I learned a thing or two.
But at the same time I also can't help but pick up a lot of personal bias (also from myself!). Yet therein lies a problem. I see people above complain about Daz3d customer service. I actually needed / wanted their help 2 times in total, and the last time (several years ago) was to request a refund because I was kinda upset with the quality of the product I bought. No questions asked, it got processed in a few days and I was asked to please remove the item from my computer (I had already done this, but still you guys... talk about a display of trust). This is kinda on-par with what I assume is the official Daz3d refund policy (I tried finding something more recent but...).
Meanwhile.... Renderosity's refund policy is quite clear: if you download the item you basically accept it for what it is. "That other site I talked about" roughly uses the same approach.
And if there's one thing I know about refunds it's that it's a (major) market expense. Time, administration, money... while the store makes no profit. I think there's a good reason why both Daz3d as well as Steam make it perfectly clear that if you abuse the service then you may be fully denied refunds completely.
Then there's also the issue of Daz3d doing more than just being a marketplace: providing & maintaining software such as Daz Studio, but let's also not forget about the Daz Install Manager. Software development... is also a whole other level of expenses. That too should be factored into any criticism I think. It's easy to make comparisons when you only have a 3d marketplace in mind where the community is basically doing most of the work and where your own overhead expenses are only so much.
Not trying to "play" both sides here, but I just want to emphasize that even though I don't agree with some posters above, I do agree with what they're trying to say (assuming I picked up their message correctly): There's (usually) always another side to a story.
As always... just my 2 cents here. And I really need to work on my avatar ;)

Very well said!I buy stuff from pretty much all of the 3D places, even the lesser ones like Artstation, Gumroad. etc. I've had to make many returns at Daz, too many to count, a few returns at Renderosity, I think 2 actually, and I've never had to make any returns at RenderHub or Renderotica. So As far as trust goes, having product testers really means nothing. There's been many horror stories of the low quality product that is allowed at Daz. There are vendors there who do nothing but make figures with duplicate formulas, there is a "star" vendor there who pretty much does nothing but take other people's models, and then make HDRIs out of them. Sometimes going as far as repackaging free HDRs from polyhaven. I will never buy anything from him. And lets not get started on the NFTs, the Yellow AI fiasco, or the short lived Daz AI web thing. There's vendors there who make very nice looking products in the promos, but which are almost universally unuseable, because of the poly count, texture size, etc. I have a blacklist of vendors at Daz because of this. It's that bad.
Allowing reviews on a site is the biggest factor in trust. I'd rather have honest criticism in the comment section for a product than rely on unknown product testers, who may or may not have an agenda. if you are getting something for free to test, of course you are going to be swayed by that and not give a completely honest critique or you most likely won't be asked to do product testing again for that vendor. We all know how this works. You can look at the movie industry or videogame industry, the insiders who get freebies to test are never (or rarely) completely honest with criticisms. Whereas, 10 reviews from average end users who paid for the product and tested it on there own, are much more trustworthy to me.
So I have no problem spending money at Renderhub or Renderosity who both allow end user reviews. I can see right away which vendors and products to avoid. If you can't allow reviews on your site from the end user, that is a huge red flag to me. Daz has always been vehemently opposed to this for "some reason". They seem to think people will spend money on a product only to viciously leave unwarranted bad reviews. And yet this is not a problem at any other site, odd isn't it? "The wicked flee when none pursue" comes to mind.
I only rarely spend money at Daz anymore, and its only because they have an extremely liberal return policy within the first 30 days which is at least a safety net. Unfortunately, I have bought things there which have been broken past 30 days by studio updates or updates by the vendors themselves. So to be honest my trust for Daz today is lower than all the other stores combined. It wasn't always like this, i used to spend thousands a year there. It's also creepy that they have their mods patrol these boards as well and do damage control here.

Yeah, I know, you're meticulous, you make custom figures, and you don't have a quality problem. So I take it back. My only cause for concern is your commitment to fan arts. You say it's commercial license, but that's tricky when you're recreating people's stuff. I suppose it depends if it's just "inspired by" or copied. Without necessarily knowing the source, it's hard to know. Same problem, every store!you probably would not, tastes are quiet individual when it comes to models, and customers have there preferences :)

'Cause I don't really think anybody is giving Powerage, Zeddicuss, Midnight_Stories or their like any grief. And I don't think Stonemason, Rawart, Luthbel, Linday, Oso, Josh Crockett, etc are planning to leave any time soon. You would just "Oh well hooodee hooo" and toss the TV and go get a new one?
I do not think so.
Or if you had that issue with the hypothetical TV and it took 2 years to get a reply?

Cause they are tired of greedy companies and companies pushing woke, etc.gohanf22 posted at 9:35 AM Mon, 5 May 2025 - #4495710
EDIT: And reason why Pirating exists, it isn't cause people do it cause they wish to, it is cause they want to stick it to companies that are GREEDY. DAZ being one of them. DAZ is a greedy company and that is why DAZ assets are on Pirating sites. I do support PAs on Renderhub cause Renderhub gives them 100% of the revenue, unlike DAZ does. If people want to sell somewhere and get all of the revenue, you should start selling on Renderhub.According to Renderhub's own
pages:Tier 1 : Earn 55%
1-50 items in your storeTier 2 : Earn 60%
51-100 items in your storeTier 3 : Earn 65%
101-200 items in your storeTier 4 : Earn 70%
201 or more items in your store
How exactly would you expect a site that didn't take a percentage to pay its operating costs, not to mention the costs of developing the applicastion in the case of daz and daz Studio 9and the license fees for things like Iray)? People pirate from greed, including the uploaders (who gt income from advertising on the file hosts, or from pushing premium subscriptions to the hosts with an affiliate scheme) - trying to dress it up as some kind of principled stance is absurd.
Pirating has become the modern day version of Robin Hood. And companies saying it is ruining revenue is just upset they are not getting what they want cause they are the ones pushing this crap.
You don't see anyone complaining about pirating when they aren't pushing degeneracy or greed do you? Nope. Only the ones pushing greed and woke are the ones complaining about piracy.
I rest my case.
Its not "Daz" taking the hit. They have their backsides covered. Its the artists.
The artists that are just like you and me and everyone...trying to earn a penny for our hard work.
Dont take that away from them, because companies like Daz are stealing from them already.
instead, urge artists to start selling on other sites or their own sites! Urge artists to sell directly to buyers!
Support artists...dont support companies already stealing from them.Renderhub is a much better site to start selling on. But many PAs won't do it. It is not my fault they won't listen. Maybe when they start losing money selling on DAZ alone, it will wake them up that DAZ is not benefiting them as a whole.
And these PAs need to know one good thing they have over DAZ: DAZ NEEDS THEM to succeed. Without them, they are toast. Majority of revenue comes from them. Not these base models. PA created content is where much of their money comes from, and if they wish to keep their artists happy, then they better start giving them MORE of the money.
Renderhub doesn't take anything and that is why many are now selling on that site.
I am not trying to endorse it, Dark. I am just trying to state the situation that this INDUSTRY or industries as a whole is in. People are SICK of Degeneracy, Indoctrination, Propaganda, you name it being put into Movies, TV Shows, Video Games, you name it. We are sick of the PANDERING of mental illness and yes it is a MENTAL ILLNESS!
I don't care what anyone on this forum says otherwise cause they are just talking through their brainwashing. It is a PROVEN FACT!

Hi,Apply M FCOV1 Glasses G8 to the scene (not the figure) then parent the glasses to the head and adjust position as needed. The G8.1 glasses are irrevocably hosed, far as I can tell. These glasses are not just props in the normal sense of the word. The glasses are fully rigged as some sort of expressive figure. They have a huge volume of morphs intended to fit many figures and the lenses themselves can be configured to express a range of emotions. Anyway, I did a quick test. The results are imperfect and I did some scale fiddling. The temples would likely need custom morphs to fit properly around the head because there are not wide blocks at the edge of the frames to give the glasses greater overall width.
Yes my when I apply them is it the lenses that get this odd crink in them them. Not the arms or sides.(Btw I also tried to load them in seperately and not "fit to" or even "parent to" and still got the odd crink in the frame/lenses)
As for scaling, I too, tried to scale them. Thought even to work them in a diff software but as noted...I made a pigs ear of it.
the person is being very specific (Its for their OC) so, the specific "dot style" is what I need.
I may try and use that one free program what is is..iCad? Or something.
