I'm new to this too and I can't help with the second question, I haven't progressed to using two figures yet:o) But I can help with the first! Forget about using the tools and mouse to pose, use the wheels to the right of the screen, you'll find wheels for rotation, bend etc. It might be confusing at first as they have to be adjusted one dimension at a time - x axis ,y-axis, and z-axis (is this making any sense?) You'll soon get used to it though and it's much more controllable than trying to drag limbs about on the screen! A more experienced person will probably give you a clearer explaination but till then hope this helps. Baz

Thanks for the info, I haven't got flash or freehand, I hope to be getting Illustrator soon maybe that'll do it? I'm on a mac so it's unlikely the shareware progs are available for me :o( Baz

Yep, I'll second that, especially any advice on creating convincing skin textures both on the texture map and the bump map! Baz

Ther's lots of copies of Computer Arts with free Poser3 on the shelves in England and if you use a Macintosh Macformat is giving it away too. I've just started using it and I love it. The main differences as far as I can see are; 1) More lights in P4 but P3 lights are adequate. 2) You get magnets which allow you to morph figures and clothing in P4 3) You can render more realistic hair and eyelashes etc. plus modify clothing using transparency maps in P4, you'll have to deal with this kind of thing with a graphics app like photoshop if you use P3. 4) You get clothing, better figures and more animals with P4. There is clothing for P3 figures available for download and with some dowloaded morphs the P3 figures are pretty good! 5) Clothing can be made to conform to figures in P4. Someone else can explain it better than me but as BAM said it makes things quicker/easier.With some effort and a bit of postwork you can get great results with P3
If you want to see what can be done with poser3 you can check my humble offering on my artists page or better yet look at the work at EnglishBob's site. (see link)

Nice work!, I've just started using the free Poser3 and I've downloaded loads of freestuff but haven't found any clothes, where did you find the two dresses? My figures are getting pretty chilly! Baz

Thanks Nance, I shall be getting P4 as soon as I can afford it! The extra lights and magnets are pretty compelling reasons too! :o) For anyone else using P3, Ultramorphman & Ultramorphwoman by Confusius (freestuff) have masses of morphs, too many for my little imac, I had to deleat some head morphs before I could use them. Thanks for the info folks! I have a couple of remapped P3NFs, haven't tried them yet though. Helborn's WWG is a good halfway figure too, much larger face on the tex map. Baz

You have to make a rectangular selection around the pattern before you hit 'Define Brush' don't you? Baz

I don't know much about NYW but I think it's a different mesh to P4W? The texture mapping is different at any rate. I'd really like to get P4W if it's possible, I already have loads of morphs, characters and textures for P4W, there's very little out there for NYW. (Well I've not seen much anyway!) Baz By the way, Daz have told me that Vicky will work with P3, apart from the trans maps of course. V1 would probably be a better buy than NYW (IMHO)
