I am thinking that part of the issue might be where the Poser Installer placed the default Runtime. I am unsure of the default locations with Poser 11+ as the last Poser I installed was 11, but it was the Smith Micro build and I never do a default install (I always change things). When I installed the Bondware version, I simply overwrote the Smith Micro install - and pointed the runtime to the runtime I installed for it.
I agree there should be a better guide, HTML or PDF, that includes manual install and finding the runtime. I would be willing to try to create one, but am unfamiliar with the newer poser (and I have a bunch of unfinished guides and tutorials started a decade ago).
With Poser versions prior to 8/2010 it is easy to locate the default Runtime as it is stored in the programs install directory and these versions were all prior to mainstream x64 operating systems in common usage. While Poser 7 did support external runtimes, the default runtime install was still in whatever directory you installed Poser in (usually C:/Program Files/Smith Micro/Poser/) . While You Can copy and paste the runtime over another, it is not recommended for your main install as their are program components in that runtime and they will over write newer ones. I recommend creating a custom location for your old runtime that is easy to remember, and copying all of your old runtimes to that location. I would start with the oldest first, then you can over-write the newer ones on top and eliminate duplicate entries.
First, if I understand, we need to locate the runtime that contains the files you want (Jessi Improved?). I can try to help. Let us start with What Operating System that version was installed on, and which Version of Poser it was (I think you said 6, but I want to confirm)? I should note, if you are using Mac and not windows I may not be much help. I know Windows (mostly older Windows up through 7).
I can try to help find where the Default content was installed as well, but that may be a bit trickier.
I can try to install Poser 11 on this laptop if I can make room... then I might be able to post some screen shots on setting up the library. That might be a few days off though.
