Darkglass:  I grew up not that far from Red Cloud, Nebraska.  (maybe a hundred miles or so) so I knew about him.  I will differ a little bit about the women not dressing so elaborately.   Maybe not the huge feather headdress we come to know for the chief but they had very ornate things especially ceremonial dress. I have seen examples of their bead work in museums in that area.  My Grandfather tells of a group of Pawnee that came every year to camp along the creek where my parents built a house in much later years.  As a kid a favorite thing to do was go to the creek and hunt arrowheads.  Found lots of them.  Only a few were very pretty.
