I tried the Monkeys Mickey Dolenz and Davey Jones but you say monkeys and Mid-J gives you monkeys...always preferred  Ian Gillan to David Coverdale

You need to use the band name not the animal - Monkees !  Must admit, as a child I had a bit of a crush on Davy Jones LOL
