Subject: sometimes can't change display style

Hello folks

This happens with some hair figures: The default display style will be wireframe and despite all my efforts to change object/figure/scene display style to solid shaded/textured the hair figure remains in wireframe display. The objects render fine but display in wireframe only. What am I not getting?

OK weird. I switched the hair figure to unimesh and POP it becomes solid shaded. weird inconsistency.

That sometimes happens with some older hairpieces, most stubborn to switch from wireframe display. I see that that is the solution you discovered. I definitely must keep that in mind. I wonder if editing the cr2 will correct the reoccurring problem.

IIRC it's usually the neck actor being set to wireframe. So with that actor selected: Display:Object Style:Texture Shaded

If you want to change that in the cr2 the relevant entry is in body part controls of the cr2. Open the cr2 in a text editor and search WIREFRAME. You'll get one result, in the neck actor. Change that displayMode entry to USEPARENT (the display mode styles are always in caps)

Here's the correct nomenclature for internal display styles in Poser...

...now that I think about it, it would probably make more sense to change the display style from wire frame to use figure style in the display dropdown for the neck. Otherwise you'll keep having to make changes if you want to display the hair in something other than texture display. Still need my coffee...

Thank you. This is good to know. Wrangling with stubborn hairpieces is enough to make you pull out your own.

Odd quirk I discovered a couple years ago ... If you have a hair cr2 and it doesn't change to smooth shaded, go to the neck selection and change the object/element display and it works.
