You wouldn't need to buy any license to try it; XD4 has several free licenses available: P4 girl and P4 boy, MGPT (Millennium Girl Pre-Teen), all P5 dolls, Sara, etc.

But if you mostly use V4 and La Femme, those two licenses would let you use all of your content which was made for other dolls.

With more licenses, for example, you could convert a uniform, made for V3, to P6 Jessie, Sasha-16, A3, Dawn, and La Femme. Then populate a scene with a crew who match but who don't look like clones, because they are different heights, build, facial features, etc.
