I'm still a little confused by what's being said. So...

Okay, correct me if I'm wrong, but, do I need to install the current version of the Download Manager that's on this site https://www.posersoftware.com/downloads? It's been a few years since I did any sort of update on my Poser Pro installation in any way, and that would include the download manager.

I assume that my current version of Poser Pro that I have installed is an upgrade from 2014 to Poser 11 Pro.

This how my license code/ serial looks XNB0CUD-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx

Is this an upgrade or regular install?

Do I need to install the current Download Manager? The download manager version i have currently installed is 1.0.6.32930 - same number as what is on https://www.posersoftware.com/downloads

I'm really hoping that this update will go smoothly.

First, you can see what version of software you are using by going to Help>About Poser on the Main Menu.

If you have not purchased an upgrade to Poser 11 (at some point) you will not have Poser 11 even after the updates that are being tested for release next month. You will need a legal copy of Poser 11 Pro for this update to work (and be free). You can purchase an upgrade from PP2014 to PP2011 Here at Renderosity in order to qualify for the free Poser Pro 11 update coming next month.

I have not kept up with the process and policies for users who wish to continue using PP2014 and/or Game Dev. Perhaps someone else can help you with those questions.

In the meantime, except for updating to Poser Pro 11, I would recommend doing nothing until the release next month.
