Hello,
Currently, the only way to accelerate the computations is to have more threads. Personally, I use a dual xeon Octo-core. These processors are hyper-threaded and this allows me to use 32 threads for the calculations. This allows to have simulations that take less time. In the future, a GPU version will certainly increase a lot the simulations speed. This version is not ready and I have some problems to finalize it.
The Ram is not really important for VWD, the program is a 32 bits version. This limitation allows to generate about 30 millions springs. It is fully enough. A 64 bits version would allow to generate more springs, but the computation time would be too long to be acceptable.
The best way to reduce to computation time is always to find the best springs generation. The program have a lot of functions that allows to use the best settings for the springs generation.
A simulation is always a challenge and the time needed to find the right settings decrease with the experience.
I hope my explanations will help you even if I don't give you a magic solution.
Have a great day.
Gérald
