I was playing around with the advanced tab in the tree editor the other day. I wanted some bushes. I got interrupted, but started to get decent results when I started using the curve, angle, and the leafless length sliders for the branches and sub-branches. If I get a chance to get back to the project, I may post a few screenshots.
