Subject: Ngons and Tris: Sloppy modelling, or intelligent strategy?

Wow! How did you find this old thread? Yeah, I remember this debate. It was one of the most interesting threads we've had here, for a number of reasons. I've actually had a slight change of heart since I started this topic. I agree mostly with what Lux said in his response to me on the first page, with the exception of a few things.

I think Ngons are great for previz stuff, and in fact I've worked at a couple studios where they were a MUST in order to get a previsualization done in the given timeframe. There would have been no way to get the models from concept sketches over to director for approval if we couldn't whip them up with ngons in some parts, like to quickly capping holes, and closing off insets. These weren't models that would be used in the final productions though. Those were modeled as needed with better topology,
