Post work. There are brushes and filters that can simulate melting, burning, whatever you want to do. Poser is incredible, but it can't do it all. Even Blaze's flames when she emits them will be post worked; as will Green Lightning's powers. I have already resigned myself to that. It's the reason I got GIMP. I couldn't afford Photoshop, and GIMP can do almost anything Photoshop can, so I got it. Originally, I was going to use it to post work my animations. When I got into modeling, I let the animation skill set slide, but I still have GIMP.
