For kicks, I just tuned in on the last page. "Five Stupid Things Americans Believe About the UK." I've certainly heard all of those. Alas, one of them is true: the food does suck, but not in comparison to typical American food. In comparison to Italian, French, Spanish, Greek, Persian, Chinese, Indian, Argentinian, Mexican, Thai, Vietnamese, Tibetan (the list goes on), however, British food does suck. It sucks massively. Fortunately, like the Canadians (and many Americans), Brits know this and are not shy about importing every edible idea (and chef/cook) they can find. In fact, I personally believe that the exceptionally poor state of British cuisine was the guiding impetus behind the growth of the Empire. That and the exceptionally poor British weather. :)

Anyway, my own personal experience as a Brit in Texas...

1. How long did it take you to drive here from England?

2. Do y'all still speak Latin in England?

3. (Asked by the registrar at a Texan university): You know if you're not a US citizen you have to prove you can speak English, and we can't admit you until take the TOEFFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language).

4. You drink your tea... gasps... HOT?

To be fair, many Brits believe some pretty unbelievable stuff about the US. And no one outside the borders seems to have the slightest notion what Canada is actually like.
