In one of those threads, one forum member explained how to roll the installation of IE11 back to whatever version of IE a user previously had on his or her system before the update. I rolled back to IE9 and P8 began working again. The old IE installation is still there somewhere after the update, able to be restored. Windows then needs to be prevented from automatically updating to IE11 again. In my case, I've begun manually authorizing updates rather than allow Windows to decide what I need and when I need it.
I guess that rough outline is pretty useless without the specifics. The process worked for me and others. It can be done. Weird that Rosity would take down the threads relating to the matter, as this is fairly important stuff.
