Oh ya. When I was a kid they put in this big concrete culvert, we'd dare each other to see who could ride the furthest on its edge; Bycicals. 4' drop on the inside; 1.2m. I saw more then one kid get pulled out in an ambulance, didn't stop any of us from trying it though. I was grown up before they finally fenced it in.

Years later I realized what made kids fall was fear. I never fell, but did get flustered a few times and stopped. It was an 10" wide ledge; .25m. All you had to do was ride straight. Still, the sort of test that builds character and self confidence that kids seem to be protected from today.
