This series of Youtube videos done by Jack Lewis is pretty helpful for those just starting in Blender.  The link open a play list that allows you to view them in order.  It takes you through downloading and installing, a walk thru of the interface, and then on to how to do various basic tasks in Blender.

Blender Absolute Beginners Series

This second series is by A1Sirius and is longer.  It also is aimed at beginners and starts with walking you through downloading and installing, customizing the interface, etc.  Again, they are set up as a playlist so you can view them in order.
