Here's my completely un-scientific and uncontrolled experiment.  Same object with very similar lighting setup (3 mesh lights in Reality, 3 Vray area lights).

Top is the Lux render at 4 hours.

Bottom is Vray render in 4 minutes and 39 seconds.
