This is f/2.8 but at 11mm. I was twice as far back for the previous shot just to get it in focus!
Hummm..focal length has a lot to do with it and if macro, the depth of working room. Ask anyone doing macro shots like the one with the 105mm macro(Sigma perhaps?). Sometimes you have less than 1/2 inch to work in and going up to a smaller opening like f/10 doesn't help much at all. You need manual focus for that and pick the focal point. Using the same lens for a portrait shot will give a nice depth of field for a face and disguised background but you have more working room from front to back and you can auto focus on the eyes if you want to.
Now I am confused.
