Unfortunately, even after several people were kind enough to help out the OP in that thread, well... their response was 'nevermind... sounds like too much trouble'. Well, crap! That's not the kind of publicity Antonia needs, is it?

In fact I couldn't care less (yes, okay,it bothers me, but not too long) as I am sooo used to it. Over the years I answered so many questions like

How do I use dynamic clothes?

How do I create a bumpmap?

How do I set up reflections?

How do I adjust shadows?

...and so on and so on.

Unfortunatly I can still tell you the names of the few persons who said "Okay, I copied your advice and bookmarked the links. Now let's see what I am able to achieve!". winks at BlueEcho who was the only person who answers something like this when reading what I wrote about bumpmaps

The rest answered:

Oh, this is so complicated!

But this is so exhausting!

I don't care, I don't have so much time!

or

But I wanted it instantly, can't you do it for me?

I have no problem with explaining things again and again and as less "technical" as possible, beginners are most welcome to me. Shante, for instance, tells what doesn't work and gives us the chance to help.

But I don't waste thoughts about people who are not able to check if there's a new version (at least when you tell them so) but say "Don't bother, I don't care anymore!" as soon as you say "Something changed, please download again".

More than this: This is a FREE figure with FREE add-on's. Asking for something that works out of the box without reading the hints or the readme is a bit too demanding for my personal taste.

Reactions like the one you are talking about are exactly what keeps many people from releasing free things. And I do not understand why some end-users react this way. It should be clear to them that they may create a feeling of "Too much trouble, I'll keep the next thing for myself and some friends". And then, of course, people will complain about the overly commercial 3d-scene...

Please don't get me wrong: I am not talking about you, cyberspace, nor about anyone in this thread. I am even not talking about a lot of people but about a small but loud "Here we are now entertain us!"-group.

Sorry, I had to get this from my heart. One should think that you get more complaints about commercial projects, sounding like "I payed a lot for this and now can't get it to work!" but no, customers tend to ask politely "I have trouble getting this to work. May you help me?". But step into the free-and-experimental field and prepare to hear "I don't care, too complicated, too not-out-of-the-box".

Oh and of course: Les, yes we are doing well (of course we are still hoping for more progress) and most of all we are doing together again, something I missed a lot. Looks as if my personal muse has a beard and hairy legs 😉

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!

And I am not strange, I am Limited Edition!
