I only wish that I was conversant in Japanese but alas, I am not.  I've been taking lessons for a year now and I'm still just getting onto my feet.

My brain works on a more geometrical and logical structure rather than the memorization option.  Languages have a very heave component for memorization.

So, it's a big struggle for me.  I'm doing the best I can though.
