Hi Klebnor,

Thanks for your detailed follow through on this. You cannot detach skeletons of imported Poser characters inside of Carrara. I think DAZ did this to prevent easy unauthorized duplication of their characters. 

The only way you can do this that I'm aware of is to export the scene as an OBJ which removes all bones and then import the .obj and re-rig the mesh. 

I don't know if it will work in this case, but you might also try to create some custom morph targets for the geometry on the native, imported Poser files. If you turn off constraints and then create new morph targets, you may be able to have your own custom set of sliders. More work than you wanted but...
