I just got an explanation from Oliver.  Apparently in Poser you can assign a masterdial to limited movement of a bone attached to an object.  He used this method to allow users to manipulate doors and other movable parts.  These dials import to Carrara looking like morphs, but the limits don't import properly and the morphs aren't attached to anything.  This may be why others see what look like morphs but the sliders have no effect.

BTW, the bones he inserted in parts of the mesh create problems with assigning limits to the movable objects in Carrara.  Specifically, moving a part with limits assigned pulls the entire model (I assume because the bone for the sub-part attaches to the main mesh).  I have tried to remove the bones without luck.  Does anyone know how to do this?
