Bumping this up because I've run into a curious, and related, problem. 

I can start, and run PS4 just fine, in 64 bit mode and everything. And do whatever I please in it - EXCEPT use the Type tool. Then it dies. And since i'm well under the 2K fonts (as mentioned above) I suspect it's a "similar but not same" problem here.

BEFORE I installed all my lovely fonts (actually.. I didn't install them per se, I just copied the fonts folder over from my previous windows folder...) I am pretty sure the Type Tool worked.

The REALLY odd thing is, I can use the 32 bit CS4  with all the fonts... but it's the 64 bit I start by default...

Anyone got any ideas?
