When our house burned,,and we lost everything...one of the things that my son lost was his baseball card collection.  This seemed to trouble him a lot, along with everything else...it was his way  of taking his mind off of losing everything...to concentrate on one thing.  His friends got together and each gave him a couple of cards from their own collection to get him started again...it seemed to comfort him as if he still had something familiar to hold onto...its hard on a child to lose everything.

Insurance takes a long time to sort out...kids need the comfort of something familiar when they find everything is gone that they are used to having.
