Quote - Thanks again for the testing and results... I'd really rather not comment much more until I've had some time (later tonight) to sit down with this again - all my comments so far have just been from drive-bys at the computer :).
I hadn't really looked into the dropped verts issue yet either... could it be coming from the screening code or something? Maybe they're not being checked at all.
Go ahead and take some time to get some sleep so you don't burn yourself out :).
The dropped verts are strange. Previous experience with the close verts approach, almost a month's worth, suggests that it shouldn't be happening. It crops up in strange ways, and inconsistently. Raising the number of influences going uphill seems to make it more likely, but not always in the same places. But it's also cropped up going downhill, at least once. Which is really surprising. Screening code is a likely suspect. I'll start with a new copy tomorrow.
I'm glad to do the testing. I really should work on the next tutorial, but it almost seems moot, with the hybrid developments. The script is in transition, and the existing tutorials may not fit the tool set soon. Hmm.
