No, because I didn't work from a single reference. I observed many people on film and in real life to try and understand the forms I was working on, and occasionally looked at photo references (mostly found on 3d.sk, obviously), but not just from a single person. (Feel free to ignore my rambling below).

In fact, I think that most people have it a bit backwards in that respect. Working directly from a fixed set of photo references is something only an experienced modeler should do. Photos distort reality, and unless one understands very well why and how that happens, the results will not be correct. Photo references are great for checking proportions, but not for determining shape, unless you have exact data on the POV and focal length which which the photo was taken and the means to reproduce those in your modeling application. As a beginner (which I was when I started work on Antonia) I think one should always work from live models if possible. If you don't have an exclusive model, observe people as much as possible. Look at photos from all angles, and also film material.

I learned to model characters from tutorails,forms,sites,comics any and all means.

I like to use a grid ,not saying it's for every one.but i like to measure every thing.so i know it is where it should be.
eye is 1x1x1
nose is 1.5 girds below center of eye.
girls head would be 7x7x5 eyes
body would be 8 heads tall.not realistic,6 heads tall tall would be more realistic.
nipples are 12 grids below the eyes or 6.5 grids above the belly button.
belly button is 7 grids a bove center
center of knee is 11.5 grides below center.
ect ect
