DPH: Not a bad idea. Setting up a site myself would actually be a good exercise, seeing as I get paid to do that kind of thing. On the other hand, it would be nice to have something up quick to use until then. So I think I'll go and check out Google Groups. Yahoo has never been my thing.
JOELGLAINE: What you're describing is pretty much the setup we have now. I agree that it's sufficient. Toes do not move independently, so why rig them that way? We need an additional morph to spread the toes, but that shouldn't be too hard.
I think one of the many next things I need to do is figure out a workflow for making morphs. I was considering getting 3D Coat for that because it's cheap, runs on Linux (via Wine), supports symmetric sculpting and seems to have pretty decent tools. Not to mention all the other neat things it can do. I've used ZBrush a bit back in 2005, but the interface is not really to my liking.
Something with dials to combine and animate morphs like Poser would be even better, but I guess that's beyond my reach (if such a beast actually exists). As usual, I'm starting to wonder why I don't just go ahead and write my own tool.
