What you used was not a planar projection.  You used a "Cylinder with Cap" projection, I would assume.  I linked what UVMapper Classic showed as the map for your cylinder in the above post.  That is a planar map.  Here is a Cylinder-With-Cap projection from UVMapper Classic (free) using your same cylinder.  What you sent was obviously a Cylinder With Cap projected UV'd object.

The cylinder you provided was mapped with a Cylindrical projection and NOT a Planar Projection.

Here is a render in my original lights used in the experiment with your cylinder using the Cylinder With Cap projection (my assumption) you linked in your post and then one I did using a simple Planar projection.

Your cylinder as supplied is in foreground left, the one I remapped to use a Planar Projection is foreground right.  The latter, Planar Projection Mapped Cylinder is free of artifacts.  The former, Cylindrical With Cap Mapped Cylinder is not.
