Last picture - camera at 700mm - telephoto zoom!

This reveals that no detail was lost. We can start with a fairly small tile and compress it to a tiny fraction of the UV space with no loss of information. Neat.

To get this level of detail with a full UV map texture, it would have to be 40000 pixels wide and 40000 pixels high.


Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
