Mmmm. I think Carrara has one of the easiest learning curves around. But there is a learning curve. It is definitly not too hard if you follow the tutorials.
There is a certain type of logic involved that you have to get your head around, but Carrara lets you do a lot of stuff easy, that needs lots more effort in other software.

I would say you try a bit longer. It will be worth your energy!
