In this screen shot, all the little red squares on the cube where the edges and polygons (facets) connect are the vertices. Each of these vertices can be individually sellected and manipulated/moved in 3d space.
Edges, polygons and vertices can be deleted as required. This is all in the Carrara Vertex Modelling Room.
