Should be able to do anything u want via translucency or transparency. Don't need another option added. SSS on the cloth would be key and it is fun, but you do have to spend time getting it right. It is slower and has many options, but save what u get as a preset. Keep in mind sss tends to override other shader options, for this should not be a real problem, but with some lighting scenarios it can be.

No need to think outside the box....
    Just make it invisible.
