the main advantage, as I see it, is from daz platinum users, who will stampede like a swarm of locusts to buy any new sale items (textures, character files, models), even though they will never use them. that's where the money comes from - the loyal herd, who actually post messages in forums and chat rooms, urging their peers to buy the latest sale item in the platinum club. with that kind of peer pressure going on, it's no surprise that some of them spend hundreds of dollars per month, thousands of dollars per year, only to fill up CDs with items they soon forget about, and in some cases (textures in particular) they may have bought the same item two or more times. add them to the customer base for hexagon, offer hexagon free or at a nominal price, then the loyal customer base will similarly stampede to buy the necessary add-on modules to make hexagon work for them, even if they never use the modules and have no idea of how to use them. they will also stampede to buy shaders and models for hexagon, because they're on sale and they don't want to miss out on a good price, even though it's unlilkely they will ever use the items.
