Are we really ever sure why :D I would guess that really small polys, as I understand dynamic hair to be(I don't use it, like I said)could be alot more prone to "light" related anomalies. There really isn't much that get's rendered in Carrara that fits in that same category.Did you experiment w/ a diff light model like anisotropic to see if it might give better results? Might try soft shadows, but that will increase render, but I bet spot will work better than bulbs.
