What a fun find, a thrilling discovery! I kind of like the effect, but know you probably want slightly better quality. :) There was a tutorial over at Steves Digicams, but the site is being revamped right now so it is not available. There is probably a solution you can buy that will kill the fungus. Hopefully someone else can give you a better answer, good luck!
