Thanks guys. Maybe I will finish it. drac--If by shadows you are referring to the dark, blurred area immediately beneath the pencil, then I agree with you, it needs to be removed. But it's not a shadow, it's a reflection on the surface of the water, and no matter what I do it seems I can't get rid of it. I'm using the default Water mat in Bryce5's Glasses section, and even though I turn reflection all the way down, it still messes up. Grr...

Looks pretty wild. I originally had something even more similar to yours in mind (without ever having seen your image... maybe Douglas Adams was wiser than we like to think); I was going to put the desk on a wooden, reflective table. Nothing ever came of it, though... just couldn't get the wood to look quite right. Someday I'll go and take a photograph for that texture.
