in poser, you can create the figure running in place and then after import into Carrara you move the figure as one whole (which has all it's inherent animation data in it) from the appropriate coordinate to the finishing coordinate. Then when you render, the figure will do it's "running in place" but it will be traveling across the coordinates for the whole figure that you set. So the effect will be that it's running from one spot to the other. You do NOT have to animate all you scenery and props passed the object. You've got to be able to place your imported figure wherever you want when you import it and after. Otherwise there's no point whatsoever. That's what you're getting tripped up on. Your imported figure, in effect, becomes an animated-clip. It's animation data is contained within it and it will perform it over time and space in Carrara as directed by you. The trick, in the case of having the figure run in place in the original program is that you have to be careful in Carrara about moving it from one place to the other so it doesn't appear that the figure is gliding across the space. When you read that no interaction with the imported figure was possible, that was only in the sense of it's individual parts. You can't grab the arm in Carrara and add animation to it - you have to go back to your original Poser file, change it and reimport it (or not maybe as I mentioned earlier). If you've never seen Philippe Bouyer's work - check it out at www.belino.net It's done with Vue and Poser (but as I said, I believe Transposer essentially works the same). ALl animated in Poser and then imported into vue where camera movements, figure placement, rendering, etc. are done. Good luck! Dave
