I don't know the link either, but in Mac OS, if you render the movie in Quicktime as tiff, you get the alpha channel with the movie. Then in Quicktime Pro or other movie editor, choose graphics mode/straight alpha (or similar) and the background disappears. Then you can add a track or background under that track (on a layer farther back).
