Congratulations to nikisatez for being Renderosity's Vendor of the Month for February!
Tell us a little bit about yourself. Who is 'nikisatez'?
I'm a "born and bred" Aussie girl from an Italian/Irish background. My friends and family know me to be a bit of a fire-cracker at times and I've been known to curse out my computer with violent threats when things aren't going to plan. I live on the outskirts of Melbourne with my Fiance and menagerie of furry, scaley and feathery babies.
The joy of my life is my little black Pug, Ruben, who spends the hours at my feet whilst I work in my office on my digital content.
I'm completely self-taught in all of my art from painting and sketching through to my 3d content. I've never taken a class and have learned my trade with the help of the 3d community and also by making lots of mistakes and learning from them for my next project.
How long have you been involved in digital art?
I started in the 3d world about ten years ago, with the game "The sims 2," and fell in love with creating custom content. A family member gave me my first copy of Poser with the words "You have to try this...." and I've never looked back.
Can you give us some hints on what you may be currently working on?
My customers know that they can never expect or predict what's coming out next. I like to dabble in all different genres and styles of 3d from Clothing, to hair, to props and so on. Inspiration usually hits at the last minute and I just go from there. Check back soon for the next creation.
What software is currently in your digital toolset and why?
I currently use Poser for rendering and setups, Hexagon for modelling and Photoshop for my textures. These have been in my toolset for years and I feel most comfortable with them.
Could you list any current favorites among the products you've created and tell us a bit about their creation?
Every one of my products is a little bit of my heart. I'm not an artist who can create on demand. So I only ever produce from the heart. Therefore all of my products are equally favourable to me.
What are the biggest challenges you face in your work?
Keeping up to date with the 3D world and spawning creativity constantly can be very demanding on my muse. Somedays I'll sit down in front of the screen and just go blank. Those days are the ones when I know to get out and get some fresh air. Sure enough, inspiration hits and I'm right back in my chair creating art!
Can you tell us a bit about your creative process, and are there any workflow tips you might wish to provide?
I get my ideas for my products from all kinds of places. Sometimes I might see something on tv that sparks an idea. Or I could be driving and all of a sudden an idea comes to mind. A lot of my ideas though, come to me when I'm on the verge of sleep. I'm just lucky that when I wake up I can remember them! I don't really have a workflow or schedule I stick to. I just create what comes to mind and don't stop till it's done and I'm satisfied.
Do you have any other advice for aspiring Digital Content Developers?
Be prepared to spend hours, days, weeks, months and years perfecting your art and also be prepared to know that you'll never stop learning. There's always room for improvement. There is no checkered finish line. You won't get to a point and say "I'm the best I'll ever be."
How has this online Community (Renderosity) enhanced your work, relationships, and learning?
I have made so many friends through the Renderosity community. Some of them I can call family due to the close bond we share with our work.
Do you have any final words or advice for other digital artists?
Do it because you love it. I couldn't do what I do without having a true passion and love for it---------------------------------------------------------------------
