We asked them a few questions, below, to get to know them a little better.

Q&A with DM

First off, can you tell us a little bit about yourselves?

Martin: "marforno" is short for Martin Fornoni. I live in Montreal, Canada, and I’m passionate about building small worlds, creating art, traveling, studying history, and enjoying music. The greatest joy of my life, however, is spending time with my six grandchildren and my family.

Danie: I was born and raised in Berlin, Germany, where I still live with my husband and our two boys. I love to laugh, enjoy the company of people with a good sense of humor, and indulge in art, nature, music, and good movies.

What got you interested in computers and graphic design? Was it a hobby or did you have another job before becoming a graphic artist?

Danie: I’ve been involved in digital art since 1997 and began working in 3D in 2001. I started with Bryce, creating scenes, but quickly realized that posing figures was impossible in the program. So, I turned to Poser 4, and that’s when I was really hooked. I found my passion for creating artistic, fantasy-style poses and characters for Victoria 2 & 3. Martin and I met around October 2001, and by November, we released our first joint project, "Danie’s Weapons ‘n Poses."

Martin: I posted my first images on Renderosity in May 2001. My early works were simple renders with a lot of Photoshop. I later moved to Bryce, where I spent a great deal of time learning the software. Eventually, I turned to modeling, driven by the limitations I encountered in Bryce’s modeling tools.

What programs did you first use while learning 3D graphics, and what are your favorite tools or programs now for your work?

Danie: As I mentioned, I started with Bryce, Poser 4, and Photoshop. Nowadays, I primarily use DazStudio, Substance Painter, and Photoshop to create my art.

Martin: I use a variety of programs depending on what I’m trying to achieve. However, for architectural modeling, I believe 3ds Max provides the best results due to its comprehensive features and flexibility.

What types of projects do you enjoy creating most, and which have been the most successful for you?

We are particularly drawn to fantasy and sci-fi themes. These genres allow for unlimited creativity –  there are no boundaries to what you can imagine. They've also been the most successful for us in terms of popularity and sales.

Are there any artists who have influenced your work or served as mentors?

Danie: Early on, I was inspired by the art of Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell, as well as Luis Royo and Dorian Cleavenger to name a few.

Martin: I’d say I’m influenced by the same artists Danie mentioned, especially their fantasy and sci-fi art, which continues to inspire me.

How did you decide to become a vendor at Renderosity?

Danie: It happened quite naturally. Renderosity was the place where I spent a lot of time, met interesting people, and made friends. It felt like a second home to me.

Martin: A very dear friend recommended Renderosity to me, and that’s how I got started.

How has Renderosity helped you grow as vendors?

Danie: The staff at Renderosity has always been incredibly supportive, which has made us feel welcomed and appreciated. Their assistance has been invaluable, and it’s been wonderful to be part of such a positive community.

Martin: For me, Renderosity has represented freedom – freedom to create in an environment that’s filled with helpful, accessible people. Over the past 24 years, it’s become a cozy home for me.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to become an artist or vendor?

Our advice would be simple: Enjoy what you're doing. Find your own niche and creative path. The rest will follow.

Any final thoughts or comments for the community?

We want to express our deepest gratitude to all our customers, both old and new, for their continued support. Your trust in our work and the wonderful reviews you leave mean the world to us. Seeing the art you create using our products is always a joy. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us. THANK YOU!
