A Few Words with Our Rising Star for July 2024: Diginal

Our Rising Star for July, 2024, is Diginal, who grew up in Jordon, but now calls Sydney, Australia home. Along the way, Diginal earned a bachelor’s in electrical engineering, and a master's in mathematics.

It was the year 2000 when Diginal finally obtained a computer.

“I spent many hours playing early games like Tomb Raider, Tekken etc…It was like magic for me how Lara Croft could walk and run within a detailed 3D environment, and I started to wonder how they make these things, until I found 3ds Max. I spent lots of hours learning and designing things in 3ds max and looking into YouTube for tutorials. These videos led me to other 3D software and applications...this is how I entered the 3D design industry.

Renderosity: What are the programs and tools you first used while learning to create 3D graphics, and what are your favorite programs or tools now for work?

Diginal: DAZ studio is my main environment for character creation and editing. I also use 3ds max and ZBrush for clothing designs ...these are my favorites.... Sometimes, I use Marvelous Designer to make the initial cloth shape. I use Adobe Substance Painter to create materials, and Photoshop to edit these materials…Autodesk Motion Builder to animate characters. I am not very expert in creating character animation, but I have a big library of Mocaps. I use a motion builder to clean, edit, and mix these Mocaps. Also, I use RedShift if I want to render things outside DAZ Render Studio Iray.

 

Renderosity: What is your typical workflow for a design?

Diginal: 1- export DAZ figure to ZBrush

               2- design a quick shape of the item

               3- export to 3Ds max, and Add details and UV mapping

               4- export back to ZBrush to add "NORMAL map details

               5- Export to Substance painter to create materials

               6- edit materials in photoshop to create textures

               7- export to DAZ studio and finalize the item…transfer, add materials, Dforce.      

 

Renderosity: What kind of 3D artwork do you most like doing?

Diginal: I like to do clothing for character… especially shoes. 

 

Renderosity: What are your favorite projects to create and what has been the most successful for you?

Diginal: Although I have been designing 3D stuff for 10 years, I am still new to commercial works. I opened my store around 4 months ago, so I am trying to build more successful projects.

 

Renderosity: Are there other artists that influence your work or have mentored you?

Diginal:  Yes – " WP Guru" an artist on YouTube. That guy who pushed me to enter commercial 3D designs. His tutorials were my first step. 

 

Renderosity: What motivated you to become a vendor?

Diginal: The 3D world is fascinating and quickly growing, and since I have some skills in this field, it would be wise to get benefits out of these skills.

 

Renderosity: How did you make the decision to become a vendor at Renderosity?

Diginal: When I decided to start selling, I asked Google Gemini to suggest selling platforms for me and it listed some websites and recommended "Renderosity and DAZ store," so I checked both sites. Renderosity was a great site, and it was easy to become a vendor with them. But the DAZ store is complicated, as I have been waiting for their approval for months.

 

Renderosity: How has Renderosity made a difference, or helped in your growth as a vendor?

Diginal: Renderosity is a great website. They will never release a product without testing. This testing process pushed me to learn a lot of new tools to improve my product. My tester, Guardian_Angel_671, is very tough. She does not accept just anything. She wants the product to be very clean with every single detail. She refuses my product many times, but every time she refuses a product, I learn a new tool within DAZ to solve the problem. She helped me a lot in discovering hidden options inside DAZ studio. I really want to thank her. 

 

Renderosity: What are some products you want to create in the near future and what goals do you have in mind as a vendor?

Diginal: I am pushing my imagination to create unique products. I always use Google to look at different real clothing designs. but I don't like to copy these designs. I always try to add details that make the item look unique, so I’ll keep creating unique designs as long as my imagination is working.
