Who is rohi? My name is Rolf Hilger - My hometown is Bad Salzuflen in Germany - I am married to Jeanne for now 37 years!!! We have two children and one grandchild - I am a self-employed Optician - Apart from computer graphic, I make music and love to play golf (Hdcp.21) How long have you have you been rendering/doing computer graphics? When I had my first computer in 1997, I used a little share-ware graphic programme and soon got fascinated by the possibilities the computer had to offer - In April 2000 I opened my home-page "Pictureworld" where you can find my earlier art works - When I became a member of the Renderosity community in June 2002, all my new art works will be found there - This is such a wonderful site, I can only say "Thank You" for the idea and all the work! Do you have traditional art experience? I did some oil paintings, some watercolour pictures but nothing to ambitious What are you currently working on? Nothing special at the moment - I have a few ideas...(If I only had more time!) What software do you use and why? My favourite graphic programme is Picture Publisher 8 and my favourite render programmes are Bryce and Vue - Another programme I like is Painter - I use the FlamingPear and the Eyecandy filter in nearly every picture - Some of the KPT filter are quite useful - For detail work I use my graphic tablet. What do you think your best piece of work is and why? The best picture is always the one I`m just working on Why do you like to work with 3D software? I am a real fan of 3D software - I can do things, I could never do with real paint - It's fantastic and fascinating! The technique I use with my artwork is a sort of LAYER technique - I put one rendered picture on top of another one - Play around with the eraser, transparency, colours and filter, until I like what I see - Now I put another picture on top again, use the eraser, transparency...And so on - At the end I might use some digital photoelements and my graphic tablet to give the image the final touch - This technique needs a lot of work and it's not as easy as it sounds, but from my point of view it's worth the effort! What inspires you? I'm inspired by different things - It can be an unusual sky, new objects, new plant or tree or I get inspired by one of the pictures I see in one of the Renderosity gallery - Sometimes I just play around with Bryce or Vue and all of a sudden...WOW! How has this online community (Renderosity) enhanced your work, relationships, and learning? I am very pleased to be a member of this community - All the comments I get...One has the feeling as being part of a great family - And now being voted December's Artist of the Month, that makes me feel proud and honoured - Thanks to all the artists, who have voted for my artwork! If you could ask for a wish? PEACE on EARTH RoHi
