Interview with seachnasaigh
(Please note: interview conducted by Kristi)
When did you join Renderosity?
seachnasaigh: March 2006
What brought you to Renderosity?
seachnasaigh: A friend in the (now defunct) Photobucket graphics forum told me she had found two forums for 3D - they were FaerieWylde and Renderosity.
How long have you been creating art?
seachnasaigh: If you mean 3D, in autumn 2005 I happened across an ad for Poser 6 while reading the news after finishing my fire incident reports. I was intrigued by the idea that you could do that on your own computer, so I bought Poser 6 and bought my first PC, "Sarit", which still runs, by the way - see photo on the right.
What software(s) do you use the most?
seachnasaigh: Poser 11 Pro is my main studio, sometimes using Reality & Lux. To support Poser, I use Silo 2.3.1 (64bit now!) for modeling and occasionally modo, Elefont, and Ivy Generator. UVLayout Pro and UVMapper Pro for UV mapping, John Hoagland's Geometry Stripper and D3D's RunZip for packaging my models to post them, PhotoImpact X3 for image manipulation, GIF Animator 5 for compositing animations, PhotoZoom Pro 6 for vector enlargement of small texture samples, Genetica 4.0 Studio for seamless tile generation. I use Vue and its network rendering utility HyperVue to generate skydome textures.
How do you feel your art defines you?
seachnasaigh: Topics which one repeatedly visits come from the abundance of what's in your heart. TinkerBell is my muse ("I've always been in your mind..." - Magic, by ELO & Olivia Newton John, from the movie "Xanadu"). I do a lot of Tolkien-esque elves and Numenoreans, and Narnian things. I've already had enough of this world's ugliness and evil, so I tend to dwell on that which is beautiful and good.
Out of all the art you have created, do you have a favorite?
seachnasaigh: It always comes back to TinkerBell. :D
