| Each month we showcase a Renderosity Free Stuff Artist,
in appreciation for their thoughtfulness, and countless hours spent
creating free items for the Renderosity community. This month we
are proud to showcase the works of Christian G., better know to his
Renderosity fellow artists as specs2.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? I'm a 23-year-old graphics design student from Germany. I usually create my "free stuff" for my own purposes, first, as a modeling exercise, but sometimes they turn out better then I expected and I decide to share them with community. My biggest hope is, that I get to work in the 3D animation sector, once I'm done with my studies. Did you begin with modeling or did you begin with Poser? I think, I started both things at the same time. I had Poser and 3ds MAX. The thing was, Poser didnt have a large variety of clothing and props at that time, so I decided to make my own. It appeared to be harder than expected, but in the end, I managed to master the 3D software. In the meantime, I've switched to Cinema 4D, which appears to be more comfortable for modeling purposes. What version of Poser do you use, and why do you like it best I'm using Poser 6 for the rigging of the clothing, etc. but for scene setups, I prefer Poser Pro Pack, which seems to be easier to use, due to some simpler interface design. You offer a lot of unique clothing items. Where do you get your ideas from? My biggest passions are games and comics, and I think most of my freebies have been inspired by them. I've also been inspired by fantasy artists like Luis Royo or Anime and Manga artists like Masamune Shirow or Satoshi Urushihara. What was the first model you ever made? Did it come out the way you planned? My first try at 3D modeling was actually the hardest. I had no clue about the software. I tried to make a human figure, but it didnt look the way envisioned. [laughter] After reading through several tutorials, I discovered, I was trying to progress too swiftly. So, I stepped back a bit and created simple props. When things just aren't going the way you planned what keeps you going? My stubbornness! [more laughter] Of all the models you've made, what's your favorite? Why? I think, it's Sera ... or maybe Blood Rayne ... or ... can't really tell. I sorta like all of them, otherwise I wouldn't have made them. We invite you to visit:
