Animation Alley: A Glimpse of SIGGRAPH 2006 Emerging Technologies

This is supposedly a mimic of a "point cloud mesh" grid, where people input a mesh in the computer and then the machine recreates the mesh using the globes... and it works!
To the left there is a table where people can put building blocks that help to create music. You get different results depending on the block that you put. You can generate bass, drums, filters, and all that.
This is a virtual walk through. You wear those rollers and walk normally. Then you use the handle to turn in different directions. You can go anywhere you want, except upwards.
In Emerging Technologies there is a section about sensors. In the above picture, there is this fountain that changes the shape of the bell depending on the proximity of someone's hands. The closer your hands are, the narrower the bell gets.
This is a holographic system that simulates interaction with a "virtual human". You wear those VR glasses and you get this CG character right on your face. You can then touch and interact with the robot, but what you see is that projected figure, not the green robot itself.
On this particular piece, you wear a backpack vacuum cleaner and you need to catch all those little gremlins. The more you catch, the heavier the backpack gets. The only problem is that these creatures are invisible, so you have to try to find them based on their shadows... in a dark room...
