We are excited to present a new series of interviews featuring members of the Renderosity Cartoonist Team. Each week these outstanding artists put the "giggles" in our funny bones, and the "thrills and chills" in our adventurous spirits.

This week our featured cartoonist is Genny Brazell , better known on Renderosity as genny. Each week Genny deconstructs the meaning to everyday sayings, re-molding them into humorous situations on the Renderosity Front Page News' Comic Strip pages.

Genny, can you tell us a little about yourself?

I suppose what people may find most interesting about me is my job. I am a Lead Mechanic for a major airline and have been for the last 16 years, and, "yes" I am a woman.

In fact, the sole reason I ever bought a computer was because my employer decided to "go paperless," and put all the manuals and IPC's (that's illustrated parts catalogs) online, through an "Intranet" service, and I was forced to use it in order to do my job. At that time, I was totally intimidated by the whole thing, but after buying my own computer and using it at home for "Fun" I discovered programs such as Paint Shop Pro, then Poser and then Vue.

Since then I have been hooked. Now at work, I am totally at ease with everything I have to do on the computer, and this may be terrible to say, but � if the computer locks-up on me � I don't have a problem at all "doing" the Hard-Boot! [laughter] I won't think of doing that at home unless it was the last resort!

How long have you been creating your cartoon strip?

I started with The RIM [Renderosity�s online magazine], so it's been over a year now, but since the magazine is no longer in existence � I really can't tell you "exactly?"

Where do you get your ideas for your weekly Renderosity Comic Strips?

I get my ideas from everyday words in the English language. I was born and raised in the US, but my mother is an immigrant and would sometimes ask us "kids" �Why or what something meant� � Things like "why do we get off a bus, but get out of a car? Why would you refer to a child as a pumpkin or a kitten?"

When someone is not born and in an English-speaking environment, they tend to take our words "literally," and sometimes I find it amusing � of course, in a non-disrespect manner.

Do you use the same software each time you do a strip?

Yes, I use Poser6 and Vue5

Do You have a favorite cartoonist or cartoon character?

I cannot say, truthfully that I have any one special cartoonist as my favorite, as I do enjoy seeing each and every one of them every week on the Renderosity comics� page. However, I do love everything that Steve, from 3dUniverse does, especially the "Heavies" with "Gareee's" morphs for the Hippo � "Billy Bull." I also love "Koshini" and the gang that followed. I just haven't had the opportunity to use them as much as I would like to in my pictures.

Is there something or someone that inspires you?

This one is easy, that would be my husband. He has been my "Rock" and no matter how bad things may look, or be, he has always stood by me. That man "married" me through thick-and-thin, and even though I have grown "thicker," and times may have been "thinner" � he has always been there for me.

How long have you been a member of the community?

I have been a member since 2000. There are so many wonderful people who visit the site, and they are very willing to share their knowledge. I have visited other sites, and it seems more of a "competition" to get noticed, rather than helping someone. People here are not only very knowledgeable, but, also generous � not only with what they know, but what they have created. Thanks to them, I could probably never purchase anything for Poser, and still have a "wealth" of stuff to use.

Outside of Renderosity, have you ever been published?

Nope, never submitted anything, anywhere � gosh � if someone should want something now, where would I have the time? [laughter]

Have I ever experienced a "creative" block?

Yes, I suppose I have, but it has been more due to mood than thought. I work midnight shift, so when I usually get an idea, I have to either work on it, or suffer all night at work from lack of sleep. Through experience, I tend to go to bed, whether I want to or not.

Are you working on anything special?

Yes, I am, but it�s only in my head right now. I would very much like to create "greeting cards." I don't know if they will ever sell, but I have to honestly say I really don't care about that � it is in the "Creating" that floats my boat!

Hi Genny,
You are such an outstanding "wordsmith." Each week your strip gives me the giggles. I always make sure that I am not drinking my first cup of coffee while reading a new toon [I have, in the past, sprayed my keyboard with sudden laughter which is not a good thing when working on a laptop].

Loved the story about your mom, and how you started your strip, it was very touching :]

I'll second what Dee-Marie has said. I also enjoy your comics. I was also touched by what you said about your mom. It brought back memories about when I was a teenager and my grandfather lived with us and how he would read the paper and ask about various words and their meanings. It's really nice to get to know a little about the people you meet each week on the pages or Rosity. Thanks a lot. And thank you Amgel1 for your interview.

I always get a kick out of our silly little phrases like "ghost writer" and "pool sharks," etc. Putting an image to those phrases is even more delightful.
