The easy way to make stereoscopic images

Skill Level: Beginner / Views: 432 / System Requirements: Image editing program, camera/3D program

Probably the easiest way to combine two photos or renders into one anaglyphic image, that can then be seen in three dimensions through a pair of anaglyph glasses.

Building the 3D world

IF YOU ALREADY HAVE TWO WORKING IMAGES, SKIP TO PAGE 3

Things you need for this tutorial:

A camera or a 3D program
An image editing program that can handle color channels (Photoshop, GIMP, Paint.net etc.)
Anaglyph glasses (doesn't matter if it's red/cyan, green/magenta or yellow/blue)

For the sake of this tutorial, I built this hideous scene. It consists of three procedural terrains with some weird rock texture added. Anyway, no matter how ugly this might look, it'll work - the only thing required in a picture like this, is depth. There has to be some kind of difference between the foreground and the background. Therefore, plain backgrounds will decrease the effect. Forests, for example, will look very interesting.
