Gee whiz, all of that to get this? This is why I can't bring myself to use Poser, I just don't have the time to learn all of that. The results are incredible, but how does anyone just learn all of that? Thank goodness for places like this and persons like you who've done all the hard work! I have P5,6,7 and still can't get myself to use either. I may come back and actually walk through this to see the results! Well done!
by ArtisticJS on Mar 18, 2009 1:06:38 am [homepage] Quite amazing results and most certainly, very involved. How long have you been using Poser? -J
Thank you very much for sharing this with us! :)
Thank you. I'm definitely going to follow this through in the Material Room, if only for the experience. But I have one question about your complicated Fresnel calculation. Is this because you don't like using the Poser Fresnel node? If so, please could you say what you find wrong with it, so we know what to look out for. Thank you.

Thank you for helping us Poser illiterates. I had a Jaw Dropping Reaction to this.. The complexity of the Material room is Scary. I wish it were a Downloadable PDF file (Hint) to follow off line rather than just a printer friendly version / option. As this is something to keep in the CD Archives. Thanks again, and I really hope you convert it to PDF.
by bagginsbill on Mar 18, 2009 7:13:10 pm [homepage] The Fresnel node is for glass or water - something clear with refraction and reflection.

by boucherart on Mar 19, 2009 8:08:14 pm [homepage] Good Lord! Did you work this out through trial and error, or have you done complicated set-ups like this before?
by commorancy on Mar 19, 2009 9:03:42 pm [homepage] I would agree that this is an impressive, albeit rather complicated, use of Poser to produce a realistic skin texture. I also applaud your tenacity at figuring all this out. At the same time, it shows the failure of Poser to provide an easier method of producing realistic skin textures. After all, Poser was designed originally for posing figures and then rendering them posed. So, you'd think Frontier (Smith Micro) would offer an easier method or presets for producing realistic skin textures. Thanks for sharing your tutorial.
Excellent tutorial. Easy to follow except page 8 where I get lost. But is outstanding. Thanks!
