Sketching

This tutorial shows how I did my picture Deep in the Underworld, featuring the greek myth of Hades and Persephone.

I always begin working with sketchs, that helps me to see the picture as a whole. Sometimes I do a pencil sketch and scan it, sometimes I do the sketch in photoshop, and sometimes I work directly with color blocks. In this case I knew exactly what I wanted in the picture, so I did the sketch in photoshop.

Firstly I choose the base colors, that will be reds and browns. For the sketch I selected a bright tone so I can see the dark lines of the draw.

The sketch doesn’t need to be very detailed, just rough lines to have a vision of the whole picture. The lines will be only for reference, they will not appear in the final work. I usually use hard round brushes for sketch.

Whe I saw the first image, the sketch, I said "Wow! I can't beleive this was done in Photoshop"! As I went down every image, my mouth was opening wider and wider, until I got to the final picture... And I fell from my chair!...

Unthinkably marvelous!!!!!
