| Basic Camera Spot Metering for Exposure by TomDart Are you having trouble with backlit scenes, bright scenes or shadowy scenes? Cameras choose the entire scene to figure exposure if you use averaged(normal) metering. Cameras offer center weighted and spot areas, too, so you can choose a part of the scene to figure exposure. Spot metering uses a smaller spot of the scene and sometimes will give you the best results. This tutorial is an introduction to using the "spot" you choose to determine exposure. Example images using the spot reading method help your learn to "spot". Includes also an intro to middle gray.
